Ready-to-use connection settings for SQLcl, Toad, DBeaver, JDBC and Python, so you can work with your APEX HostMate schema from any Oracle tool.
Every tool uses the same five values. You will find them in the client area under Services → your APEX service → Access details:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Host | Host, under SQL Developer / Toad / DBeaver |
| Port | 1555 |
| Service name | freepdb1 |
| Username | Workspace / Username |
| Password | Password (click Show or Copy) |
In the examples below, replace HOST and SCHEMA with your own values.
Note: Always use a service name, never a SID, and port
1555rather than1521.
sql SCHEMA@//HOST:1555/freepdb1
SQLcl asks for your password. To check the connection:
SELECT user FROM dual;
1555.freepdb1.1555.freepdb1, with Service Name selected in the drop-down next to it.| Format | Value |
|---|---|
| Easy Connect | HOST:1555/freepdb1 |
| JDBC (thin) | jdbc:oracle:thin:@//HOST:1555/freepdb1 |
Python with the oracledb package:
import oracledb
conn = oracledb.connect(user="SCHEMA", password="your-password",
dsn="HOST:1555/freepdb1")
print(conn.version)
Tip: Never store your password in source code. Read it from an environment variable or a secrets file outside your project.
The error messages are the same in every tool. See the troubleshooting table in How to connect to your schema with SQL Developer.
