Upload and download database exports in the Files tab

Last reviewed: October 12, 2026 Applies to: APEX Shared 2 min read

Use the Files tab — your private folder on the server — to upload dump files for import, download exports, and request an export or import from our team.

Your private folder

Every APEX service has a private folder on the database server for database exports and imports. You manage it in the Files tab of your service. The folder is not reachable from the web, so it is a safe place for dump files and data files.

Upload a file

  1. Sign in to the client area, open Services and select your APEX service.
  2. Open the Files tab and click Upload file.
  3. Choose the file. A progress bar shows the upload; you can Cancel it at any time.
Allowed Details
File types dmp, sql, zip, gz, tgz, tar, bz2, xz, 7z, csv, xlsx, xls, txt, log, json, xml, pdf
Size Up to 2 GB per file, within your plan's space. The bar at the top shows how much is used.

Have a file imported

Uploading a file does not change your database. To load a Data Pump dump or a large script into a workspace, click Request import next to the file. A support ticket opens with the file name filled in — tell us which workspace to import into and whether existing objects may be replaced.

Get an export of your data

Click Request an export to ask our team for a Data Pump export of your schema. When it is ready, it appears in the list and you can Download it.

Download and delete

  • Download saves the file to your computer.
  • Delete removes it from the folder for good. Deleted files cannot be recovered.

Note: Backup files you upload are your responsibility — keep your own copies. Our daily backups cover your database, not the contents of this folder.

If the Files tab is unavailable

The same folder is also available in the File Manager. The Other ways in card in the Files tab shows its address and the username to use; sign in with your primary workspace password and open the backups folder.
