How backups work and how to request a restore

What is backed up on APEX hosting and Cloud VPS, how long backups are kept, and how to restore your data when something goes wrong.

APEX hosting

Every APEX hosting plan includes daily backups, each kept for 7 days. They are included in your plan at no extra cost.

Request a restore

1. Sign in to the client area and open Support → Open a support ticket.
2. Department: Technical. Related service: select your APEX service.
3. Tell us:
   • what to restore — the whole schema, specific tables, or an APEX application;
   • the date and approximate time you want to go back to;
   • whether we may overwrite the current data, or should restore to a separate copy.
4. Submit the ticket. Our team replies with the next steps.

Note: A restore brings data back to the state it was in when the backup was taken. Anything changed after that moment is replaced, so tell us if there is recent data you need to keep.

Keep your own copy too

Backups protect against failures on our side, but it is good practice to keep your own copies of important work. Export your APEX applications regularly from App Builder → your application → Export / Import → Export, and store the files somewhere safe.

Cloud VPS

Cloud VPS backups are not included by default. Two optional add-ons protect your server; you can add them from your VPS service's Add-ons page.

Once active, you manage them under your VPS → Management → Backups or Snapshots. Click Restore next to any backup or snapshot to roll the server back to it.

Warning: Restoring a VPS backup or snapshot replaces everything currently on the server with the saved copy. Take a fresh snapshot first if you might need the current state.
